So Thierry Henry is gone. He's not really. Maybe this was a strategic move by Henry and Wenger to hinder Barcelona when they play us in next years champions league final.
Is it a bad thing that he's gone? Yes and no. He will be missed, but since he is a little prone to injury now and he's starting to get old, it is not that bad. He played his best years for us, he helped us do the double, help us win the league title undefeated...he is great.
People think we sold him cheap? No, considering his age and proneness to injury, it was a great deal. Relinquishing us from paying such a huge salary also gives us the ability to sign a big name player...
Let's pay tribute to him. It's an end of an era.

Spot-on assessemnt. One of the best articles I've read. If anybody thinks that Arse are no longer a threat without Henry, look at the achievements of Man Utd WITHOUT Ruud van Nistelrooy this season...Taking the figure-head of your attack away often encourages younger players to take on more responsibility, WITHOUT the fear of being criticised by the senior figure-head (Ruud/Ronaldo for United, Henry/van Persie for Arsenal). I think Arsenal have a very talented bunch of youngsters, and if they can develop a ruthless edge for winning, then watch-out. Although I think over the next 2 years, it will be a struggle for any other side in England to challenge United or Chelscum. The two big guns are simply too far ahead in terms of having quality players at the very peak of their powers and also have fantastic young players coming through. What about Liverpool you say...you must be joking I say...
If there are two managers in the world whose ability to judge the FUTURE potential of stars THEY have developed remains almost unquestioned, then they would have to be Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson...
Wenger got it right with Pires, Overmars, Petit, Vieira and perhaps now Henry...
Let me make one thing clear, despite supporting United, I have been a big fan of Henry, the player on the field)...I would go as far as saying that together with Kaka, Ronalinho, Gerrard and Christiano Ronaldo, Henry is within the top 5 players in the world (altho Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney and perhaps Michael Essien will have a bit to say about that). But I really do think Henry is a bit past it. He can still devastate any side in a team like Barca where he has a lot of players around him to stage the act...but despite the talent of youngsters like Cesc and RvP, I don't think he can do it at Arsenal anymore...that is perhaps the reason why he kept bleating on about Arsenal needing to add more stars...but he only needs to look at his own career at the Gunners to see that that isn't the way Wenger operates...I don't mean it lightly when I say it wouldn't surprise me to see Wneger turn down ANY of the top 5 players I named in preference for a younger French, Spainish or Ivory Coast player...ITS JUST THE WAY HE DOES THINGS...And as another great saying in sport goes, "Those who live by the sword, die by the sword"...I think Wenger and SAF are beyond the sword tho...Don't believe me...look at their records...
I think he really wanted to leave, Dein and Wenger's contracts are just excuses...Henry wanted to leave for trophies...and a team like Barca...there is no better in terms of star quality...Ronny, Eto'o, Messi, Deco, Iniesta, Puyol, Zambrotta, Xavi, Marquez, Yaya Toure and now Henry himself...BREATH-TAKING...
However, Real Madrid are the case-in-point when I say galacticos don't always work, but Barca have a platform...namely, Xavi, Iniesta, Yaya Toure (soon) and Marquez...
As for NETORU...sympathies mate...I know what it felt like when Ruud, Keano and Becks left...Enjoy the memories mate...Some of those goals from Henry still take the breathe away...There should perhaps be a new blog entry of his top 10 goals...I can think of 10 of the most-outstanding one just in 5 seconds...which other player can you say that for...and a LOT of them were against top qulaity oponents like Man U, Liverpool and Roma...
Who will take your FKs, Corners, penalties on FM netoru?
I can't believe I wrote so much for a former Arsenal player...an indictment on his legendary status...I forgot to add two words tho...
"Thank you" for the memories Theiry...
