That's kind of like asking me who put up those 'God,' billboards. Was it Jesus since he's God's representative on earth? Did they earn the $5000 or whatever it costs to put a billboard up or did he just create it? If he just created it, then he is making NZ's inflation problem even worse. We may become more spiritually enlightened, but we become poorer too.

This reminds me of the first question we studied for 4 weeks in a philosophy class...does God exist? The most powerful argument either way, for me, was that there is so much natural evil in the world (like cancer, floods & whatever else you can think of). A God is benevolent and wouldn't allow this kind of evil and therefore there is no God. It goes a little deeper than that, but you can't prove this argument right or wrong, but I think it's pretty good.
You may be wondering how this relates to 1994 in the United Kingdom..if you go to the wikipedia link up the top, the first event written is "January 14- The Duchess of Kent joins the Roman Catholic Church, the first member of the Royal Family to convert to Catholicism for more than 300 years." That's close enough.
I told alot of people I was on the radio this morning and I said if they wanted to know what for, they would have to read this blog...well I wasn't really on the radio. They do this thing where you can txt in what you did in the weekend and today they encouraged people who listen all the time but don't txt to do it. I decided to and my txt was the first one they read (probably because it was so witty and hilarious). They probably get some kind of royalty for the # of txts sent in, so it was probably just a ploy to get more money, but since they read it out on air, I'm hooked. I'll give them 20c a week...
NOTE: To the people who hog games in the arcade, DON'T BE SUCH FUCKING ASSHOLES!! When I ask if you want to play a game, it means one, not 2 or 3. I'm not waiting around for that long while you do 3 easy songs, then attempt a hard one at the end. And if you use autobass other than to learn a song, you really shouldn't be playing the game..play pinball. I know who you are, and next time you come in, I might put in 10credits so you have to wait 40mins for your games, just to teach you a lesson.

Does God exist? Yes he does, that theory of "Why does he allow evil?" is so damn shoddy...
Those that argue that He doesn't, argue that He wouldn't allow the existence of evil if He did exist rite?
Well, Einstein, a much higher authority on all things, answered this one for us...
Does "darkness" exist? You may say yes it does, but if fact, darkness is simply the absence of light...Where there is light, there is no darkness...darkness itself exists only where light doesn't
Does "cold" exist? You may say yes, but if fact, coldness is simply the absence of heat is the existence of cold, there is nothing such as cold...
Simialarly, Einstein went on to say that "evil" does not exist...it simply manifests itself where God isn't...
I don't want to turn your blog into some sort of religious argument...
But you will have a very hard time trying to prove Mr. Einstein wrong...
And if God doesn't exist, then who created the universe...Oh...I hear you say the Big BAng...well, the first rule of Science is that matter cannot be created or destroyed, so if in fact the earth was created by the Big Bang, who created the very first peice of matter that caused the big bang...:-)
Ofcourse, you don't need to answer that one...
I apologise for the long post, I just don't think that people should be misled...
And you should own those people that hog the machines in the arcade...you should play 10 games when they next come in...
You should also own the people who hog the same machines in the gym...
I thought you was on radio "in person"...but kind of were...kool...
You should have a link to your blog in those texts, if in fact these blogs are WAP-supported...
I just realised I should be working...
For all those people who say philosophy is a bum subject which you can't use, this will prove you wrong. I'm so glad I studied it...
light and heat are both quantitative variables while good (i would say evil too, but i'll go along and assume it doesn't exist), is qualitative. so you can't use that similar cases argument thingy you (or Einstein) try to put across.
Absence of good? Maybe I could buy that...but then why would a benevolent God allow such a huge 'absence of good.'
Maybe I should stick to writing about random sex dreams. no one argues with them...
I just checked Einstein's quoate again...evil is the absence of good...My mistake...
Why would God allow the absence of good? It is called Free Will...You can't blame God if people abuse their abilities...
I think you started this topic to create controversy...
Can any "God doesn't exist" theory please explain the creation of the Universe?
hey finally im leaving a comment, this arguement has got me interested becoz iv heard alot of people ask the same question of " is there a god?". iv been in a group conversation, and the question was passed by to a person who had lost his mum, brother, and house all in the space of a year. the question was " do u believe in god after all this evil and sadness?" thier response i dont think ill ever forget and i believe to be true. they said " why should we only accept the good things from god, and not da bad?"
i also agree with gurpreets comments on einstein.
Very sorry to hear about your mate Adamn
Adam makes a great point...Why do we only accept good things from God? And when bad/tragic things occur, we question his mere existence?
I think its because human beings are inately selfish and self-glorifying. We are so selfosh and self-glorifying that we refuse to acknowledge the existence of a power far superior than us.
Einstein's argument cannot simply be dispelled by your quant/qual argument netoru...His point is not about qualitative and quantitative things...He was trying to illustrate how the non-existence of something creates the illusion that something else exists...
Evil manifests itself in the absence of good...(and there is no such thing as "natural evil")...the evil in human beings comes as a result of our actions...not because its "naturally" there...
I had no doubt what-so-ever that this was going to be the most controversial topic...
I think Oli aka netoru started this up deliberately...
I'm glad I found out how to surf wikipedia for free at university, otherwise I might not've replied.
No natural evil? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_evil
It also talks about the 'evil means no God,' argument briefly. Natural evil or lack of good..same thing in my opinion.
You could also google natural evil and i'm sure a million websites will come up and you can read about the argument in more detail.
My opinion on why shouldn't we accept bad things from God...because if God loves us all, why would he want bad things to happen to us?
But to end this debate, I will show you how to prove the argument wrong and save you some time...
good & evil can be classified into orders...a 1st order good and evil exist, so a more important 2nd order good & evil can exist. I'll give an example: A first order good&evil could be pleasure & poverty. A 2nd order g&e would be virtues and vices. The 1st order evil 'poverty' exist so the person living in poverty will be admired for their virtues, which can be said to be more important. That's why natural evil exists.
The thing that makes me not believe in God is the fact there are so many religions and each one usually has a God that says 'believe in no other God than me.' If you choose the wrong one, you're screwed because it's usually one of the most important rules they have. This is something you can't hedge your bets on...
There is ONE God...all religions worship Him...
In the way that seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years are manifestations of different time periods of the SUN, in this way, all religions worship that same ONE God...
There is no wrong path...all religions are correct because if you follow any religion PROPERLY, then they will all lead to HIM...
One of the biggest mistakes people make is believing that different religions believe in different "Gods"...All paths lead to Him, the paths themselves are different...
Quite often, it is the path that people don't believe in...
Your argument has a flaw...Why is "poverty" an evil?
I will tell you...It is YOUR opinion that poverty is an evil...but that isn't necessarily the case if you look at things from a spiritual point of view...
The luxuries of life, quite often lead us away from God, and they give usa false sense of belief that hapiness is related to wealth and luxury...THAT IS NEVER THE CASE...almost all religions agree with this...
Wealth isn't a bad thing, as long as your life isn't driven by it...and you acknoweldge God, who gives it to you...
In the same way, poverty isn't a bad thing if it helps you grow closer to God...
Evil does exist (e.g. Hitler)...but it doesn't exist because God created it...
God gave Hitler a brain, arms and legs...He chose to use them to kill 6 million inocent people...We cannot blame God for Hitler's Free Will...It was Hitler who in his FULL CONSCIOUSNESS did commited those atrocities...
Why didn't God stop Him? Well, we all have a conscience that God gave us...Our conscience tries to stop us from doing bad things...that conscience is God telling us not to do bad things...but if WE corrupt our conscience or ignore it, then we cannot blame God...
There is one other thing...I Sikhism, we believe that any person who persumes to completely describe God is a fool because His creativity and power is beyond our comprehension...I'm sorry if my argument isn't convincing because the reality is that only God knows why He does things...
I will tell you what the problem is...You are trying to argue with "logic and science", while I argue with faith...
The "logic and science" that you are using to aid your argument does not explain the biggest truth in front of us (the creation of the very universe we live in)...So as Einstein said...it can be oncluded that there must be a spiritual force, much higher than us in action...
Commeting on blogs while you are meant to be working is EVIL...but it was my choice to do this...I cannot blame God...
He gave me a conscience which said..."Do work, don't comment on blog"...but if I choose to ignore my conscience OR if I corrupt it to a point where my consicence tells me that it is justified that I comment on blogs while I should be working...It is my fault...not His...
So I shall go back to work...and hopfully I shall not return during work hours...
I think you should have a blog entry on why people ignore there conscience...don't you think the world would be abeuatiful place if people didn't?
ur spamming. i'm meant to be studying for exams. did you read the wikipedia thing? If you didn't then you shouldn't have replied...
why don't we argue about something less controversial. is it right to have a game show where you can end up in a pool of pee?
Ok...we argue something less controversial...
What is more important? Playing side-ways one-touch carpet football and finishing fourth...or playing attractive fast, incisive, wing-based football and winning the EPL?
